LOOKING for a new job? Good news - because nearly 3000 brand new positions are now up for grabs, just in time for Christmas.
Australia Post has revealed it is now recruiting a record number of additional workers as it braces for it its "biggest Christmas ever".

A whopping 1026 new roles are available in NSW alone, with 767 created in Queensland, 740 in Victoria and 172 in Western Australia.
A further 141 are on offer in South Australia, 49 in the ACT, 34 in the Northern Territory and 11 in Tasmania.

The most popular and sought-after positions include Christmas casuals, who will be required to work shifts lasting a minimum of three hours, with up to five shifts available per week, and both night and day shifts available.
Successful candidates will be paid between $26.50 and $29.73 an hour, and will be contracted until January 2019.
Other gigs are available in retail, with three to 12-month contracts in full and part-time roles listed with approximate pay starting at $22.03 per hour.
Australia Post is also looking for delivery workers, with a range of full and part-time opportunities on three to 12-month contracts, and pay starting at $21.68 an hour.
According to the organisation, it will be a record Christmas with Aussies tipped to spend $21 billion in online purchases for the first time.

As a result, Australia Post will deliver an average of one million parcels each day during the "unprecedented" peak holiday period, with weekend deliveries in metropolitan areas launching this weekend.

Australia Post Group chief operating officer Bob Black said 37 million parcels were delivered last December, with parcel processing facilities upgraded across the country in preparation for the 2018 Christmas rush.
"This recruitment drive is the biggest of its kind in our history and we're on track to hire 2000 Christmas casuals before December. This will put us in a good position for a record-breaking Christmas ahead," Mr Black said.

"We are also recruiting 800 new fixed-term roles including truck and van drivers, and additional people to serve customers in our post offices and contact centres.
"We are investing $300 million into new parcel processing technology and machinery across
Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, enabling us to process an additional 35,000 parcels and
Express Post items an hour."
Mr Black said as well as the new weekend deliveries in metro areas, post offices would also soon begin extended trading.
